The caliber of this balanced blend is far greater than the sum you must part with. It cries value and then some. The lively and mature, summer berry nose is under- pinned by hints of dark chocolate, new leather and fresh crumbled earth. Each grape variety comes together in a classic partnership where every member is allowed to shine. Still the sparky acidity encourages and allows for unity within this harmonious cast of stars. In its youth, this wine is showing to be a good investment but knowing its pedigree and taste, one may expect many positive returns as the wine ages.

Aromas of plump rich black bramble berry and dark juicy Bing cherry intertwine with charred toast, black liquorice and exotic incense. It envelops the palate with a satin-smooth, lovely textured swath of ambrosia—black and red currant, red and black cherry with deft balance, pizzazz and appeal. This has persistent purity of fruit, with structure and excellent tang and acidity. It punches well above its price and delivers a lengthy finish and aftertaste with replays of palate flavours enhanced by mocha. Pour with burgers, meat-laden pizza, gourmet sausage, beer-can chicken or vegetable terrine. (Vic Harradine)
